The picturesque village is situated in the heart of the Rhodope Mountain, just 80 km from the International Plovdiv Airport, 14km northeast from Smolian, 12 km eastwards from the world famous ski-resorts Pamporovo and Chepelare, 1200 meters above the sea level, 98 km. south of Plovdiv, 240 km. southeast of Sofia.
There high in the mountain, in the realm of folklore songs and melodious ring of the bells, you have the opportunity to be touched by the magic of the marvelous Rhodopes and to submerge into the atmosphere of the long past times. The old traditions and crafts, as well as the patriarchal spirit have been preserved. If you visit Momchilovtsi just once, you would never forget the unique nature, the hospitality of the local people, their cozy houses and the folk style taverns!
The nearby vicinity of the mountain offers excellent conditions for outings, hiking tours, half-day and one-day excursions to interesting natural and cultural landmarks, such as the miraculous Ayazmo and „St.St. Konstantin and Elena“ church, cave exploration, photo-safaris, fishing and various other outdoor recreational activities such as sunbathing, jogging, etc. In addition, the region is a paradise for hunters. Bulgaria's largest hunting ground – Kormisosh- is located 15 km from Momchilovtsi village.
